Vignettes to make Life a Little Better and More Prosperous

Controlling your cholesterol and triglycerides without drugs is one of the simplest things to achieve. A primary step is to reduce or eliminate grains and sugars from your daily diet and take a high-quality fish oil on a daily basis.

Contrary to the “information reported to us via the news and by doctors and dieticians, eating saturated fats and cholesterol does not cause high cholesterol, high triglycerides, or heart disease. It is true that we want high HDLs and low LDLs but the path to health is not statin drugs.

Our livers are very active and the liver takes carbohydrates and turns them into cholesterol and triglycerides. Unfortunately, our diets today consist mostly of processed foods which are loaded with sugars, high fructose corn syrup, and processed grains with all the nutrition stripped off, leaving useless carbs and herbicides and pesticides.

It is no wonder that we have disease because we have a failed agriculture system, and a medical system that is designed for maximum profits for doctors and drug companies.

There was a great book written in 2006 called the “100 Year Lie” by Randall Fitzgerald. In this book, Randall exposes all the lies which compromise the health care system today. One hundred years ago, people consumed saturated fats and there were very few heart attacks, strokes, cancer, or diabetes. With the addition of vegetable oils –trans fatty acids – and a decrease in saturated fats disease got out of hand.

At this same time, processed foods – worthless carbohydrates – plus sugars, were reported as being healthy substitutes for past unprocessed foods (sugar consumption was about 6 pounds per person, to the present of about 160 pounds/person).

The time period from the 1906 to the sixties - we saw an astronomical increase of heart disease (from virtually none to almost 600,000 deaths per year), diabetes (went from a few type I diabetics and virtually no type II diabetics), then cancer (went from less than 3 % of the total deaths to the very large mess we have today).

What are some of the solutions to help prevent disease today?

1. Stop sugar and high fructose corn syrup consumption

2. Stop eating white foods – processed carbohydrates

3. Stop vegetable oils

4. Stop eating foods with herbicides and pesticides

5. Eat saturated fats on a limited basis

6. Eat beef, pork, and chicken only if it does not come from industrial feed operations and if you know the producer personally.

7. Eat fruits and vegetables from local producers – fresh is always better.

8. Avoid processed food substitutes – if it is in a box or advertised on TV it is probably unhealthy.

9. Stop eating excitotoxins – Aspartame (equal artificial sweetener), MSG (in 95 % of all processed foods), and Hydrolyzed vegetable protein (read labels)

The above are easy to do and with a little effort on your part you and your families will be healthier.
