Vignettes to make Life a Little Better and More Prosperous

High blood pressure is a big problem in our culture today. The number of people over the age of forty that are being treated is in the millions, and it is anyone's guess how many people have high blood pressure and are unaware they have the condition.

Ask any doctor what causes high blood pressure and they will tell you that we don't have any idea of the cause but we need to treat the symptoms.

This reminds me of hypoglycemia back around 1973 or 1974. We lived in southwest Florida and all the buzz among people was that some of them had low blood sugar. The media was all over this and they interviewed doctors into ad nauseam. All the doctors said that it was impossible to have this new disease called "low blood sugar or hypoglycemia" and there was no research to support it - there fore it didn't exist.

The cause of high blood pressure fits into the same mentality as

hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia did exist and it is accepted as a medical problem which is treated today by almost every doctor. In the same manner, high blood pressure has a cause and it can be treated without drugs and it can be "cured."

Most of the subscribers to this sight know our motto - Healthy soil = Healthy Plants and Animals = Healthy People. The cause of almost all disease is poor or sick soil.

There are no trace minerals in the food we eat. For the most part the trace minerals and the macro minerals were farmed out of the soil back in the 1930's. In fact it was reported in the Federal Registry in 1936 that all the trace minerals were absent from the soil. Farmers are not paid to replace the minerals and they don't.

The other side of the mineral problem is that chemical - non-sustainable - agriculture has created a very acid soil condition which "ties up" minerals in the soil, so they are almost non-existent from two separate sources.

There is a great book which was published in 2006, written by Sherry Rogers, MD titled "The High Blood Pressure Hoax." (You can find this at www.prestigepublishing.com). The essence of this book is that high blood pressure is a bad joke and it can be treated without toxic drugs. In an over simplified statement - high blood pressure is caused by a lack of magnesium in our bodies/food supply.

The serious side effects of high blood pressure drugs cause high blood pressure to become worse. High blood pressure is generally treated with diuretics first - they cause the fluid levels in our bodies to decrease (blood volume) but at the same time as fluid levels decrease so does the magnesium in our bodies and after a period of time the high blood pressure increases again.

The next treatment for HBP is adding drugs called calcium channel blockers and once again the blood pressure decreases to normal levels. Unfortunately, patients are not told that after 5 years with this combo medication that their brains have shrunk considerably which adds to the risk of dementia and other mental disorders.

We know from the work of Linus Pauling PhD and others that all disease can be traced to the lack of trace minerals. In her book Dr Rogers releases the cause of HBP as the shortage of magnesium.

So what is a person to do to protect themselves?

First is to recognize the symptoms of magnesium deficiency.

  • body aches
  • muscle twitches
  • low energy or feeling run down
  • headaches and migraines
  • leg cramps
  • chronic constipation
  • insulin resistance
  • severe PMS, and more.

Left untreated, a magnesium deficiency can lead to more life-threatening conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, stroke, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and other conditions.

So how do we treat a magnesium deficiency?

There are only two ways to treat this problem:

1.    Eat healthy plants from healthy soil that does not use toxic chemistry - fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides. This is the best way but since this is hard to do on the short run, we then must supplement.

2.    Supplementation is the quickest way to good health but most of what's available in a grocery store is useless. We have to take in trace minerals in a form that our bodies can use. Most supplements are not adequate or they are not absorbable. One supplement form can be chelated but it is not the best. The best form of minerals is ionic or plant derived as our bodies will readily absorb about 97 percent. With chelated, the absorption is about forty percent and with grocery store products the absorption is about three to seven percent.

To your good health without toxic drugs when ever possible.
