Vignettes to make Life a Little Better and More Prosperous

Did you all hear that Santa Claus was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and COPD?

My first thought was how this could happen to this beloved old soul. After reviewing and studying Santa's life style, it is a wonder he is even alive after all these years of abuse to his body.

First thing, Santa is a smoker. Do you recall seeing pictures of him with wreaths of smoke around his head? You can't have smoke without someone smoking and since he is usually by himself in the pictures, he has to be a smoker. This is the main cause of his COPD - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and the only solution to help this condition is to stop smoking.

How many times have you seen Santa with a Coca Cola in his hand and a big smile?

The seven worst substances that we can eat or drink are:

1.    Soft Drinks of any kind - "Coke"

2.    Chips

3.    Doughnuts

4.    French Fries (one FF is worse than one cigarette)

5.    Sea Foods - most are farm raised with Mercury, PCB's, and Dioxins

6. Macaroni and Cheese - Macaroni has zero nutrition plus herbicides and pesticides. Cheese never saw a cow - all chemicals

7. Pizza - flour has zero nutrition plus herbicides and pesticides and sauce has MSG and other chemicals in the processed meats and cheese

All soft drinks are prepared with High-Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). This product is 20 times sweeter than sugar cane. Bakers and soft drink manufacturers can use less HFCS and less cane sugar, therefore 'pocketing" higher profits. It is also used in juice, condiments, jams, and wine. (HFCS is industrial strength and not for sale to the public).

Unlike regular sugar (glucose), High Fructose Corn Syrup is in fact much worse. When the liver processes HFCS it stimulates fat production - hence weight gain. Also, HFCS does not induce a feeling of being full, so you (or Santa) are more likely to continue eating or drinking in excessive amounts, resulting in large weight gains.

How many people leave Santa a glass of milk and several cookies under the Christmas Tree? - almost everyone who has young children.

The cookies are usually manufactured by industrial bakers and they use HFCS in the preparation. The cookies are also prepared with white flour - all the nutrients have been stripped off the grains but herbicides and pesticides are still present. They use trans fatty acids and other artificial ingredients. The final product is carbohydrates and zero nutrition.

The good news - Santa knows he has a problem and wants to improve his health. He visited his family doctor - an allopathic physician - for diagnosis and treatment. He was told there was no treatment or cure for Diabetes, but they could control his problem with drugs. Should his condition become worse, they could begin insulin treatments. There was also the matter with his high blood pressure and again he was told that we don't know what causes HBP but he could take several medications to control his pressure - he was not told that several of these medications cause the brain to shrink by 10 % in a five year period helping to cause dementia and/or Alzheimer's Disease.

Santa was not happy with the treatment options and was concerned the Diabetic medications and/or insulin may have a deleterious effect on his liver, heart (two common side effects of Diabetes and the medications used to control it), and sex drive. He was also concerned about the drugs for HPB.

Mrs. Claus had something to say about this, so she encouraged Santa to see Dr Noth Pole - a holistic physician. Dr Pole explained to Santa he had been living a sedentary life style and consuming too many empty carbohydrates and not enough proteins and fats (also consuming the wrong fats).

Dr Pole explained that carbohydrates are energy sources and nothing more; whereas proteins and fats are energy sources plus build tissue and bone, transport molecules, balance pH, help maintain a normal blood pressure, protect organs, transport nutrients, control body temperature, and hormones synthesis. He explained that proteins and fat from grass fed beef, pastured poultry, grass fed non-pasteurized milk products, and pastured pork are healthy, but meat from our grocery stores are very unhealthy.

Dr Pole was very careful to suggest that Santa needs carbohydrates in the form of vegetables - preferably uncooked. He explained that a few fruits are acceptable, because fruits are loaded with sugars-they should be eaten in moderation and never consumed as juices.

Dr Pole also explained that if Santa would lose weight, add trace mineral and beneficial fatty acids, his Diabetes and High Blood Pressure would probably come under control without drugs. Dr Pole promised to watch Santa's blood sugar and blood pressure very carefully.

Santa is worried about his image and the example he sets for children. He has promised to stop smoking and consuming unhealthy empty carbohydrates - like soft drinks, cookies, cold cereal, breads, potatoes, and sugar.

Let's all hope that Santa follows Dr Noth Pole's advice and next Christmas we will see a slimmer Santa Claus without side effects from drugs.
