Pasteurized Milk, Irradiated Fruits, Vegetables and Meat
I recently wrote about irradiated
vegetables and fruit that the USDA has approved and corporations that wanted
this approval will be using this process on the food you eat from grocery
stores in the very near future.
The following letter is about my
recent experience that I had at a local grocery store. I sent this letter to
Organic Valley, which is a collection of dairy farmers from all over the USA.
These are good people doing a better job than most dairies but they have one
flaw that I think needs exposed so that the consumer (the fact is that the
farmers raising their milk for the Organic Valley co-op may not know about
this) can make an informed shopping choice.
Ultra Pasteurized is used for two
reasons: one is because bovine growth hormones from Monsanto are injected into
the cows to make them produce more milk and not have to have babies to come
into lactation. This is very stressful and the cows become sick with bacterial
infections. In order to use the milk and to keep the public from becoming sick
they have to raise the temperature of the pasteurization process from 161
degrees to above 200 degrees. This in effect kills or destroys all the bacteria
in the milk (the good kind and the bad kind) along with the enzymes and amino
acids. Unfortunately, they don't have a way to separate out the toxins from the
dead bacteria or the unnatural hormones that were put into the cow and
ultimately in the milk. These hormones also have an influence on young girls
developing sexually five to seven years earlier than they should.
The second use of the Ultra
Pasteurized process is explained in the letter I have enclosed and that I sent
to Organic Valley. Incidentally they have not responded to my letter, yet.
Dear Sirs: (hopefully a few madams) I
went to a local Albertson's yesterday to grab a milk. We don't use much (we
would use more if we had local grass fed non-pasteurized, non-homogenized,
non-chemical milk) and I only wanted ½ gallon. Every half gallon was ULTRA
PASTEURIZED.
I have read of your success in the
past and of Jim Hightower's assessment in his recent book. Does Jim know how
you are deceiving the public with ULTRA PASTEURIZED? I am not some schmuck
soccer mom running into the store to buy a few things with her mind on
everything but what is in your container.
I have advocated in the past that in
the absence of grass fed dairy, your
product was better than the other white stuff in the store (you know the one
that looks white but is not really milk because of BGH from Monsanto, stripped
apart, and ULTRA PASTEURIZED to kill the bacteria from the stressed out cows with
the toxins left over from the dead bacteria that contributes to lactose
intolerant babies and adults) because your cows are healthy, on grass, not stressed, and you did regular
pasteurization of about 161 degrees.
I did find a gallon of non ULTRA PASTEURIZED
milk but since we use so little we will have to throw the excess out in the
compost pile.
I know why you use the ULTRA
PASTEURIZED process (one of your employees told me about two years ago) to have
less spoilage in the stores so your customers will not lose money, but you are
none the less deceiving the consumer. How much milk would they buy and drink if
they knew that ULTRA PASTEURIZED means that you have destroyed all the
nutrients and goodness that milk has to offer (regular pasteurized destroys
most of the goodness but UP destroys everything)? How thrilled would they be if
they knew that ULTRA PASTEURIZED could sit on a shelf without refrigeration for
a month and never "go bad"? My feelings are "If bugs will not eat something why
should I eat the "stuff"?
As much as Jim Hightower praised
you, I find that you are no better than producers using BGH from Monsanto. I
think Jim needs to know how you are deceiving the public. You are no better
than the other corporations that use GMO's and chemicals in our food systems
that are causing cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
One hundred years ago we had almost
no heart attacks, no type II diabetes, and less than 3 % of the deaths were
from cancer. After industrial food and chemical agriculture were introduced we
have an obesity problem, (type II diabetes), heart attacks have gone through
the roof and cancer affects 40 % of the population. This does not include the
degenerative diseases like arthritis, depression, etc.
I feel it is my responsibility to
warn the public of these issues. I hope you will get some integrity back into
you business by eliminating ULTRA PASTEURIZED milk or at least putting a
warning label on the container that the containers contains zero nutrition.

that appear unrelated to shine up their image, or they form foundations that
then sing the praises of how good the offending corporation is when this is not
true. Edward Bernaise was the first person to use this foundation technique for
General Motors when explaining that lead in the gasoline was not harmful to the
people, land or food.
